It has been agreed that the we will trial the idea of running a second-hand equipment shop as a bolt on to the club shop. The idea is very simple you donate any unwanted, outgrown, unfashionable items of equipment such as goggles, flippers, kick boards, etc and we will try an re sell them onto other swimmers at a nominal price. 100% of the selling price will go direct to raise money for the club. The items will be placed in a bucket that will be available when the club shop is open. If you have any items suitable for donation please pass to Alison Hollis. If you require a second hand item at short notice then please also contact Alison Hollis on any club night!

Help the environment by recycling goods, help the club by raising money help the swimmer by having some equipment in reserve!

Swimming at Waltham Abbey Pool on Saturday afternoon is cancelled until further notice. Unfortunately we are unable to provide a coach to cover this session at the current time. Please check the website for further updates.

Our second Night Swim proved a raging success with our aim to get round the whole of the M25 in 9 hours a tall challenge.
Epic swims from a masters relay, Michael Peddle, Olympia Konstantino, Emma Hollis and Carmen Konstantino plus a show of stamina from Junior 4 swimmers Jordana and Chloe Bentley and squad swimmer Billy Noblett meant that the goal was in sight and by 6.30am with a late surge from Greg Peddle we managed the 190600m required. A full list of those that braved the night are enclosed and a big thank you to all that swam, all that counted lengths (especially Cheryl and Greg) and the pool and management staff led by George Lampshire.
When we have a final tally of sponsor money I will post the total on the web site. Half the money will be going to the Teenage Cancer Trust.

The club intends to hold a series of coaches forums with swimmers over the next few months. The first of these will be held by Lee Richards for the performance squad on Sunday 11th May at 5.30pm in the movement studio. These forums will provide swimmers with the opportunity to ask questions about training plans, personal objectives, health and nutrition etc. If swimmers have specific questions to ask or subjects they would like included then please let Lee know in advance of the meeting.

Bagcats ASA East Region - June 2008
Details of the Bagcats - East Region Champs are now available on their website at www.eastswimming.org. Closing date for entries is 7th May. Please read entry conditions carefully and ensure entered times appear on our club website and are achieved within the set timescales. Entries must be made on the official entry form.

The club championships have been licensed as level 4, and the details can be found on the events tab above. The home 100's gala on 29/6 is pending approved for licensing at level 3.

As you will all by now be aware the ASA have decided that all 2009 county qualifying times must be achieved at a licensed meet. The committee have decided that to assist swimmers in achieving these times at such a meet and to reduce the need for parents to pay to enter Swimming galas at other clubs, that we will license our own club championships. As you would expect there is a cost involved in applying for a license that the club will need to meet. We have decided that rather than charge swimmers an entry fee, or charge parents to watch, or for a programme, we will hold a number of raffle draws on the evening of the Championships, probably at the first on 18th May and again at the last. We do however need your help in providing suitable raffle prizes to attract lots of interest and raise the extra funds required for the club. If you have a suitable prize or would just like to donate something new please pass to Emma Hollis or any member of the Committee. Please show your support for your club - it is so important and very much appreciated!!

Please note that from 1st April 2008 I will be changing my e mail to the following address  headcoachefdsc@hotmail.com  Could you please use this address to contact me with any swimming related issues. My existing address will cease to exist from this date.

Congratulations to Jessica Lambert who is the latest Jack Petchey winner!! Jessica was nominated for giving 110% to training. Her efforts have produced excellant results in galas she has entered recently. A well deserved winner!

The club events pages have been updated with the dates that have been put forward on a licence application to the ASA. The events include all last years events, plus 400 I/M, 800 and 1500 Freestyle.
