Congratulations to Emma Hollis who has been identified as a 'Local Hero'. Lloyds TSB and Sportsaid have launched a new initiative to aid up and coming athletes to get support from local businesses wishing to help them chase their 2012 Olympic dream. For every Olympic and Paralympic medal there are thousands of genuine hopefuls committed to their chosen sport with little or no funding.
Each year until 2012, with the help of Sportsaid, Lloyds TSB will will be helping to keep the dream alive for 250 young and emerging sportspeople. Emma has already been interviewed by Roger Black at the launch of the scheme at Olympia last week, answering questions about her training, dreams and local club!
Emma is one of just 5 swimmers to be selected from across Great Britain.
For further information visit the British Swimming website or www.lloydstsblondon2012.co.uk

Congratulations to Jessica Lambert for being selected by the ASA East Region to represent the County in the forthcoming Inter-County competition to be held at Hatfield on 5th July 2008.  Jessica was selected in recognition of her hard work and excellant results at this years Essex blocks despite an unfortunate injury which cut her championship short.  A great honour to be recognised and selected for this event - very well deserved.  Thanks to coach Lee Richards who assisted in this  achievement.

The half term timetable is available >>> here <<<

Thanks to all involved in the first club champs of the new season from swimmer to parent to helper! This was the first of the new style galas now licensed as a Level 4 meet. Times achieved at this event will be eligible for submission as entry times to next years Essex County Championships. It was great to see so many new swimmers participating in their first ever gala! Well done to all.
We ran a raffle on the night for the first time to assist in covering the costs of the license and made an amazing £74.00. We will run raffles at future championships so please keep the prizes coming in! As always bottles of wine and boxes of chocolates are always well received.

The committee and coaches are pleased to welcome Roxy Parkyn to the permanent coaching team at EFDSC to take on the role of the development squad coach. Roxy is not only an experienced swimming coach but is also involved in the training and development of new Level 1 swimming teachers in the area. Many of you will know Roxy from her work at Waltham Abbey Swimming Pool. We wish Roxy all the best in her new role.

Could we please remind you to have a look around for any raffle prizes you may have suitable for donation to our raffle at Club Champs and the home gala in June? Please pass to Alison Hollis or any member of the committee.

Thank you.

If you have any other good news stories please pass to Alison Hollis, we want to celebrate all our swimmers successes!
