The summer timetable has been updated to clarify Thursdays. See the green box to the right

Congratulations to all who swam at the Cambridge Summer Meet last Sunday. In total we took 12 golds, 18 silvers, and 14 bronze medals as well as a number of speeding tickets, two age group winners and 3 British records! This huge tally of medals earned the club 'top visiting club' title and a splendid cup for our efforts. Steven Peddle and Freddy Cassford took top swimmers within their age groups and Emma Hollis broke 3 British records in her disability classification.
It was a great day for all who attended and all should be proud of their many achievements. We await the arrival of this rather large cup following a minor repair job!
Thanks to Cambridge for their hospitality, support to our swimmers and their generous congratulations!

Well that was a turn up for the books!  We actually won a mini league!! With a great team consisting of 20 swimmers - some competing in their first gala - right from the beginning of the gala we were shocked to hear that we were actually scoring as we were so used to hearing the words "Epping Forest - time faulted". We were in 2nd place right from the start and things just got better and better! To hear that we were the winning club was fantastic!! Unfortunately the host club didn't realise they were supposed to provide a trophy though - we'll gladly accept a belated one when you get it!  Well done everyone, excellant job!

The updated summer timetable is available >>> here <<<

Details are now available for the Essex County Championship and Special Age Group Relays 29/30 November 2008 on the Club Noticeboard and Essex ASA website. Competitors need to have achieved their entry times at a licenced meet within the twelve months preceeding the closing date. EFDSC will check this information as will Essex ASA. Due to the small numbers of swimmers currently holding qualifying times for this meet we will not be providing gala slips although Lee Richards Heach Coach will have entry details and entry forms. If you think you have qualifying times please contact him in the first instance. The coaches will provide details of the 9/10 and 11/12 yrs relay teams in due course. Individual entries must be returned to Alison Hollis by Sunday 12th October 2008.

This years Inter-Counties was held at Hatfield on 5th July 2008. Teams competing came from Cambridge, Bedford, Herts, Suffolk, Norfolk and Essex. Swimmers were selected for their performances in this years County events, known as Essex Block A-D held between Jan-Mar. Jessica Lambert was selected to represent the Essex Team and took part in the 200m Medley Relay together with girls from Braintree, Thurrock and Southend. With a fantastic performance the team romped home in 2nd place. With an electric atmosphere and great performances from all swimmers, Team Essex finished in a highly respectable 3rd place.  No surprise Suffolk won with Herts 2nd!

Please note that we have been informed there has been a change to the session times for this gala. Warm up for session 1 starts 8.45am for a 9.30am start and session 2 12.00pm for a 12.45 start. Session 3 has been condensed into Session 1 and 2 so no late finish on sunday evening! You will be provided with a print out of your events and you should ensure you read these carefully! Everything else remains the same including the quality of the shopping available!

Congratulations and many thanks to all who took part in the home gala at Loughton on Sunday. Well done to all our swimmers from our youngest swimming in their first 'real' gala and winning medals, right through to our top squad who achieved some amazing personal best times and winning golds! Well done also to Emma Hollis who broke no less than three British Records in her S7 class events.
A huge thank you to all who officiated at the gala and to our band of volunteers who without their help we would just not manage to put on such a major event!
The club also received big thanks from our visiting disabled swimmers who said they were made to feel extremely welcome and cheered on through all their races.
But, lets not rest on our laurels, planning has already started for the November meet and we really need more volunteers to help with this event. If you think you can help then please contact Alison Hollis, Debra Waite or any member of the committee.

Congratulations to Chloe-Annabelle Ward, Charlotte Kenyon and Katie Whiffen who attended the Essex County development camp over the weekend. All three were invited following their impressive swims at the Essex Counties earlier in the year. The camp held at New Hall School in Chelmsford combined theory and practical sessions, including a two-hour fly session!

Well done to all three.....the club are very proud of you!

Congratulations to Andraea and Marissa Posnett who competed in the Independant Schools National Swimming Finals for Chigwell School on 3rd May 2008 together with ex-Epping swimmers Sarah Dudley and Hannah Jerman. Andraea swam in the backstroke final and Marissa in the freestyle final, both girls swimming superbly achieving bronze medals. The Posnett twins also contributed to the success of the relay teams where they achieved a 5th place in the medley relay and a 6th in the freestyle relay. Congratulations also to Katie Whiffin who swam at the same meet for Woodford Green Prep School and achieved an excellent 3rd place in the 50m breast. Well done to all the girls for doing so well at this hugely prestigious event!
